Does Garrick House offer Free WiFi Internet Access?

Yes Garrick House does supply free Wi-Fi internet access to all guests.  This service is available throughout the resort.

Where is Garrick House located?

Garrick House is perfectly situated on quiet, palm-tree lined Garrick Street, just one street back from gorgeous Four Mile Beach and only a 2 minute walk to vibrant Macrossan Street, packed with boutique shops, cafes and award winning restaurants. This fantastic location is the best location for your Port Douglas holiday as it places you within walking distance of all that Port Douglas has to offer and you just have to cross the road and you are on Four Mile Beach! Enjoy peace and quiet and tropical sea breezes while just being around the corner from the heart of the action.

How long does it take to walk to Four Mile Beach?

Garrick House is just 1 minutes’ walk to Four Mile Beach. We are literally one street back from The Esplanade and Four Mile Beach. We are also located at the best end of Four Mile Beach as this end includes the safe swimming area (and stinger net in stinger season) and the beach hire which hires sun loungers, umbrellas, tubes, stand-up paddleboards etc.

How long does it take to walk to the Reef Marina?

The Reef Marina is just a 5-10 minute stroll from Garrick House. 5 minute fast walk or 10 minute slow walk! The majority of boat operators that take you to the Great Barrier Reef include a complimentary pick-up from Garrick House.

Do I need a car?

If you are just planning on visiting Port Douglas you do not need a car as we are perfectly located within walking distance of all Port Douglas local attractions. Tours companies will collect you from our front door and you can walk to the supermarket and all of the shops, cafes, restaurants, Four Mile Beach and Reef Marina.

If you plan on doing some independent touring of the area a hire car is required. You can park you car in our complimentary undercover car park.

There are a total of 17 apartments at Garrick House.

What type of apartments are there at Garrick House?

There is a combination of Deluxe Studio Apartments, 1 Bedroom Apartments and 2 Bedroom Apartments.

Do the apartments have kitchen facilities?

All apartments have full kitchen facilities including oven, stovetop, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee plunger, crockery and cutlery.

Do the 2 Bedroom Apartments have 1 or 2 bathrooms?

The majority of the 2 Bedroom Apartments have 1 bathroom, however we also offer one 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Apartment on the top floor.

How many people can share a Deluxe Studio Apartment?

Rates include a maximum of 2 people. An infant cot is the only additional bedding that can be added to deluxe studio apartments, at a cost of just $5 per night.

How many people can share a 1 Bedroom Apartment?

Rates include 2 people, however a 3rd person can fit into a 1 Bedroom Apartment and will be accommodated on a rollaway bed at an additional charge of $30 per night.

How many people can share a 2 Bedroom Apartment?

2 Bedroom/1 Bathroom Apartments – rates include 4 people, however a 5th person can fit into a 2 Bedroom Apartment and will be accommodated on a rollaway bed at an additional charge of $30 per night. This rollaway bed can be situated in the living room or the queen bedroom. Please note it will only fit in the 2 single bed bedroom is a limited number of apartments.

2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Apartment – rates include up to a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children.  Maximum room capacity is 6 people.

Do all of the apartments overlook the swimming pool?

All of the apartments face the same direction – towards the sea – and enjoy pool and/or garden views.

Does Garrick House offer on-site parking and what is the cost?

Garrick House offers complimentary undercover on-site parking to all guests. All parking spaces are unallocated so do not need to be reserved in advance. The car park is located at the rear of Garrick House and the driveway is located on the right hand side of the main entrance.

What time is reception open?

Reception hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm Saturday and 9am to 12pm Sunday. As management lives on-site you will often find reception is open longer than these set hours. In addition for guest’s peace of mind we have on-site management available when reception is closed should you experience any difficulties.

I am arriving outside of reception hours – what should I do?

When you arrive at reception you will find an envelope at the front reception window with your surname on it. The welcome letter inside will detail how to locate your apartment.

Does Garrick House have a lift?

Garrick House does not have a lift and has 3 levels – ground, 1st floor and 2nd floor. If you have difficulty with stairs please let us know in advance and request a ground or 1st floor apartment. Deluxe studio apartments are on ground level.

I would like to book local tours – can I do this at Garrick House?

Absolutely. We have an on-site tour desk and brochures on all the tours available in Port Douglas and the surrounding area. In addition we have over 7 years local knowledge and have experienced the majority of tours first-hand so can give relevant advice and book tours that suit you. This tour booking service is completely free, you do not need to pay for the tours in advance and we do not charge any credit card commissions!

Does Garrick House have beach towels or do I need to bring my own?

Garrick House offers one complimentary pool/beach towel per person.  Additional pool/beach towels can be hired for just $3 per towel.

How do I make a reservation at Garrick House?

The best way to make a reservation at Garrick House is to book directly with Garrick House! We offer exactly the same rates as any online site. If you happen to see a better rate on another site, just let us know and we will happily match it!

By booking direct you don’t need to pay a deposit or pre-pay your accommodation and you can let us know directly about any special requirements you may have. We can also assist you with information and bookings for airport transfers and local tours and attractions.

Do you have to pay a deposit when making a reservation?

No. One of the great benefits of booking directly with Garrick House is that we do not take a deposit or any form of pre-payment. We will simply take your credit card details to secure the booking. A credit card imprint will be requested on check-in and payment can be made on departure.

When is final payment of the accommodation due?

If you book directly with Garrick House payment is due on departure.
If you book via an online site payment will either be due at the time of booking or your credit card will be charged on the morning of arrival.

What is Garrick House’s cancellation policy?

Bookings cancelled with more than 7 days notice will not be charged any cancellation fee.
Bookings cancelled with less than 7 days notice, but with 24 or more hours notice, will be charged one night’s cancellation fee.
Bookings cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, or on the day of arrival, or in the case of a no show, will be charged the full amount of the reservation.

What tours do the staff at Garrick House recommend?

There are many fantastic tour options available from Port Douglas.  Options include:

  • Snorkelling and/or diving trip to the Great Barrier Reef,
  • Full or half day tour to the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park
  • Day trip to Kuranda, travelling up via gondola on the Skyrail and back down via the Scenic Railway
  • Sea Kayaking along the coast or out to Snapper Island
  • Helicopter scenic flights over the reef and/or rainforest

What day is the local market held in Port Douglas?

The local Port Douglas market is held every Sunday at Market Park at the end of Macrossan Street, just a 4 minute walk from Garrick House. Sunday is a great day to be in Port as everyone heads to the market and then out for lunch and drinks! In addition there is always live music on at the Court House Hotel on a Sunday, directly opposite the markets.

Is the swimming pool heated?

Yes!  The tropical swimming pool at Garrick House is heated to a lovely 30 degrees during the cooler months, from approximately May to October. The heated pool provides for comfortable year round swimming.
